United States eSIM
Install before you fly, switch it on when you land, keep your own number for calls.
Travel data in United States without the roaming bill
Roaming with your home carrier in United States is the expensive way to stay online, and hunting for a local SIM at arrivals costs you an hour and a passport photocopy. A travel eSIM is a second, data-only line you install from your sofa: pick the package, install it on home Wi-Fi, and switch it on when the plane doors open.
Packages come as daily unlimited or fixed data, so a long weekend and a study term do not cost the same. Students can stretch to a full semester and top up from the app after. Prices and validity are shown in the app before you pay, and there is no contract or deposit.
Before you buy: the three-second check
- Your phone supports eSIM (iPhone XS and newer, Pixel 3 and newer, recent Galaxy S and Z) and is carrier-unlocked.
- You install it before you fly, on Wi-Fi. Activation needs a working connection.
- Your normal SIM stays in place for calls and bank codes. Turn its data roaming off.
- If you plan to tether a laptop, check the package details, hotspot is set per package.
If something goes wrong in United States
Most "it is not working" moments are a settings toggle, and support is a real person who walks you through it rather than a help-centre article. If the eSIM itself is faulty, you get a 1-for-1 replacement free for the whole length of your stay, not only on day one. And if your plans change before you activate it, an unused eSIM can be handed back.

United States eSIM questions
Will it really work as soon as I land?
Yes, if you installed the eSIM before departure and your destination is covered. Turn off airplane mode after landing and the line connects to a local network on its own.
Can I install it before I fly?
Yes, and you should: installing needs internet, and airport Wi-Fi is a gamble. Install at home, keep the line off, and switch it on when you land. Unused eSIMs can be returned.
Will I keep my home number?
Yes. The plan is data-only and sits beside your SIM, so calls and bank codes still reach your number. Turn data roaming off on the home line.
Which phones can use an eSIM?
Any eSIM-capable, carrier-unlocked phone, which covers most recent models. If your settings let you add an eSIM, you are good.
What if it doesn't connect when I land?
Check that the GrapeSim line is on, data roaming for that line is on, and it is set as your data line. Toggle airplane mode once. Still offline? Message support in the app and a person will help. A faulty eSIM is replaced one for one.
What happens when I run out of data?
Data simply stops. No surprise charges. Top up or add a package in the app.
